DON'T FORGET: Zioness To Host Facebook Live Discussion post 2018 Midterms
The midterm elections will show just how much our country has changed in the past two years. On Wednesday, Nov. 7, Zioness will host an in-depth discussion though Facebook Live on the role of anti-Semitism and #MeToo in the midterm races, and how the results will shape the political landscape in 2020.
Our panel of amazing, progressive-Zionist powerhouses includes Amanda Berman, Tyler Gregory, Carly Pildis, Susan George, Lauren Post and Arielle Mokhtarzadeh and will feature a SPECIAL GUEST who we will introduce live.
Like us on Facebook to receive a notification when we go live.
We are accepting questions for our panelists from Zionesses! We also encourage you to organize a watch party for your fellow local Zionesses to start the conversation about how we as Zionists can work to support progressivism. If you would like help reaching out to other local Zionesses for your watch party, or if you would submit a question for our panelists, please email email@example.com.
Zioness In the News
A Message to My Compatriots in the American Left From Across the Pond
by Amanda Berman, Jewish Journal
“When anti-Israel obsession and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories take hold on the political left, most Jews are made politically homeless. The result is disastrous, not just for the Jews but for the movements themselves. This is what we’re witnessing in the UK. Zioness, and our thousands of activists and allies, will not stand by and watch it happen here.
In the United States, now more than ever, progressives should be on the front foot. Trump’s 38 percent approval rating is a record low. We face massive challenges—for women’s equality, universal healthcare, LGBTQ+ rights and for our PoC communities to live free from fear. Those struggles will be more effectively fought by movements that welcome rather than alienate Jews and Zionists, who have always been on the forefront of social justice activism of every kind."
Last Weekend: Amanda Berman Receives Hadassah's Myrtle Wreath Award
Last Sunday, Zioness Co-Founder and President Amanda Berman received Hadassah's Myrtle Wreath Award. The award, one of the most prestigious the organization gives, is given to people who have made significant contributions to Jewish life — in the United States or in Israel — in politics, diplomacy, science, the arts, or organization work. We are so grateful and excited that Zioness has been embraced by our community and highlighted by organizations we admire, like Hadassah. When the Jewish people are united, we can only go from strength to strength.
Board Member Ann Lewis to be Honored at A Wider Bridge's New York Gala
Our fierce Zioness board member, progressive icon Ann Lewis, will be honored for her decades of leadership in the pro-Israel and feminist movements at the 2018 A Wider Bridge Gala in New York City on Thursday, Dec. 6.
Ann will receive the Champion Ally Award for sharing A Wider Bridge’s call to “refuse to choose” between Israel and progressive causes, including LGBTQ rights.
Amanda is also thrilled to co-chair this important event to support the incredible work that A Wider Bridge does for the LGBTQ community in Israel and in the United States. We hope every Zioness in the tri-state area joins us in supporting (and celebrating) this extraordinary organization.
It is a privilege to fight for equality alongside AWB and its venerable leaders and activists. Although it's been a challenging year for those of us committed to this work, we are constantly inspired by the righteous voices and profound successes of my friends at AWB.
If you haven't already purchased your tickets, you still can here!
